Using the Trace button, you can locate all forms associated
with the form you selected. Simply select a form in the table, then
the Trace button. Enter the trace criteria and press OK.
You will be shown a tree-like display that shows the related forms and
the relationships between them.

Have you ever wanted to email a section of your database information?
What about pasting a small section of your data into a Word document?
Simply click and drag your mouse over the data you would like to copy.
Using the Menu button, select Copy highlighted to Clipboard.
You can now paste this information into MS Excel, Word or Outlook.

You can access periodically backed up databases
Did you know…
That in both the DTT and RTT the databases are backed up periodically?
Using these backups, you can easily retrieve information to restore
the switch databases. Simply click the Configure menu on the RTT or
DTT menu bar and select Switch to database then Backed up < backup date>.
Note: The list of backed up databases appears 10 seconds
after startup
To ensure that you are retrieving the correct information, refer to
the date displayed in the title bar of the Table window. This date refers
to the actual date of the Table Dump.
The administration station configures the periodic backup intervals
and the number of backups held at one time. A database can be backed
up at any time and your administrator can change the configuration.
Note: Verizon Wireless periodic Backups
Backups for the Digit Translation Tool and Roam Translation Tool
are completed on separate days.
The DTT is backed up once a week and there are always four consecutive
backups that are available to be retrieved.
The RTT is backed up every two days and there are always six consecutive
backups that are available to be retrieved.

Using the Optimize,Compare ECPs dialog box, you can improve the accuracy
of your Nnbr databases by comparing one Nnbr database against another.
You can access the Optimize/Compare dialog box two ways,
1) Using the Audit Menu and selecting Optimize/Compare
2) Selecting the Match button.
The RTT will display the Optimize,Compare ECPs window, select the Nnbr
tab.
RTT provides you with 2 different ways of comparing Nnbr databases.

Did you know…
You can verify that a roamer is properly configured in your system?
When you have a problem with a roamer, you should verify that the roamer's
Nnbr form and Link form do not exist. RTT has a Trace function that
looks for a roamer's associated Nnbr and Link form. For example, we
can trace the Npa/Nxx of 227/477, using the RTT trace button.
Follow the steps below:
1. Start the Roam Translation Tool and select the desired
ECP in the ECP List Box.
2. Click the Roam button on the RTT Toolbar - RTT brings
up the Roam Table window.
3. Select Npa in the Key Field Selector by clicking on the
down-arrow button - RTT displays the list of all assigned Npas in
the Roam Table's left grid.
4. Locate Npa = 227 in the Roam Table's left grid by scrolling
down the left grid, click on it to select it - RTT displays all the
roamers associated with Npa = 227 in the main grid.
5. Scroll down the main grid to locate Npa/Nxx = 227/477 and select
it.
6. Click the local Trace button on the Roam Table -
RTT traces the selected roamer and displays the Nnbr and Link form
associated with the roamer in the Trace Roam Databases window.
7. To locate all the parameters of the Nnbr and Link forms, simply
select the Nnbr of Link form and click the local Locate button on
the Trace Roam Databases window. RTT displays the form in the main
grid of the Nnbr or Link Table, based on the form selected.

Did you know…
You can locate all roamers pointing to a far end code (DPC)?
Here's something to think about…You have a problem with roamers that
are connected via SS7 Link, and you are given the far end point code
(DPC) to verify the roamer. How do you locate all the roamers pointing
to the DPC? The Roam Translation Tool can locate all roamers that are
pointing to that far end point code (DPC) with a few simple mouse clicks.
For example, locate all the roamers pointing to DPC = 001130019.
Follow the steps below:
1. Start the Roam Translation Tool and select an ECP in the
ECP List Box.
2. Click the Link button on the RTT toolbar. RTT brings
up a Link Table.
3. Select DPC in the Key Field Selector, by clicking on the
down-arrow button - RTT displays a list of all assigned DPCs in the
Link Table's left grid.
4. Locate DPC = 001130019 by scrolling down the left grid, and click
on it to select it. RTT displays all the Link forms associated with
DPC = 001130019 in the main grid.
5. Click the local Nnbr button on the Link Table -
RTT locates the Nnbr form associated with the Link form and displays
it in the Nnbr Table's main grid.
6. Click the local Roam button on the Nnbr Table -
RTT locates the Roam forms associated with DPC = 001130019 in the
Roam Table's main grid.
You can delete a list of Roam forms from the Roam database
Have you ever needed to delete a list of Roam forms from the Roam database?
Sometimes you do not want to allow one of your roaming partners to
Roam in your system. RTT allows you to delete an existing roamer by
creating an apxrcv script and scheduling the switch update.
For example, you may want to delete one or more Npa/Nxx patterns from
the Roam database.
Follow the steps below to delete a list of Roam forms from the Roam
database:
1. Start the Roam Translation Tool and select the desired
ECP in the ECP List box.
2. Click the Roam button on the RTT Toolbar to being
up the Roam Table window.
3. Select Npa in the Key Field Selector of the Roam Table's left
grid. The RTT displays the list of all assigned Npas in the Roam Table's
left grid.
4. Point to the local Clone button and click on the
right mouse button to change it to Delete. (Clicking the mouse button
again will change the local Delete button to Update)
5. Locate Npa = 308 in the Roam Table's left grid, by scrolling down
the left grid, and select it by clicking it - RTT displays all the
roamers that are associated with Npa = 308 in the main grid.
6. In the main grid, locate the Npa/Nxx of 308 /233 and select it.
7. Click the local Delete button on the Roam Table
- RTT opens the Edit Roam Table and copies the selected form into
it, setting its Action to D for Delete. (If the Edit Roam Table contains
previously edited Roam forms, RTT prompts you to clear the window
-answer yes to clear the old forms).
8. To create an apxrcv script, click the local Script
button on the Edit Roam Table - RTT brings up the Roam Script window
filled with the Roam updates included in the apxrcv script.
9. In the ECP List Box select the ECP for which you want to schedule
the apxrcv script.
10. Click the local Schedule Script button on the Script
window - RTT opens the Schedule Script dialog box. Note that the Schedule
Script window title is followed by the name of the selected ECP in
brackets (XXXX ECP).
11. Using the up and down arrows, choose the time and day for RTT
to execute the script.
12. Enter your User Id and Password in the OMP login and choose your
OMP Menu option; if you want the scheduler to log into the ECP and
execute the script, enter your User Id and Password in the ECP login.
13. Click the local Schedule button on the Schedule
Script dialog box - RTT changes the window header to read Schedule
Script (XXXX ECP Scheduled) (if you want to schedule the script for
all ECPs click the Schedule All button).
14. If you want to schedule the same script for another ECP, click
the Next ECP>> or <<prev ECP butto
15. Click Done on the Schedule Script dialog box -
RTT will execute the changes at the scheduled time and day.
16. Click Done on the Roam Script window to close it.
17. Click Done on the Edit Roam Table to close it.
You can remove duplicate
partial ranges from your Roam database
Do you have duplicate partial ranges in your Roam database?
Optimizing your database using the Roam Translation Tool is the solution.
Duplicate partial ranges (0-9) are common in the Roam database. The
RTT Optimize/Compare ECPs function allows you to locate and delete duplicate
partial ranges and create an apxrcv script to replace (0-9) partial
ranges with full range Npa/Nxx.
Follow the steps below to optimize you database:
1. Start the Roam Translation Tool.
2. Click Match on the RTT toolbar, or click Audit on the RTT menu
bar and select Optimize/Compare - RTT displays the Optimize/Compare
ECPs dialog box.
3. On the Roam tab of the Optimize/Compare ECPs dialog box, select
the option Optimize Secondary ECP Roam Table.
4. Select an ECP that you would like to optimize in the Secondary
ECP List Box.
5. To set the audit criteria, click the local Criteria button - RTT
brings up the Roam Translation Tool Audit Criteria dialog box.
6. Change the maximum number of Npa/Nxx to be optimized optimize
from 500 to 10 - RTT will limit the optimization process and list
the first 10 forms with duplicate partial ranges.
7. Click the Ok button to close the Roam Translation Tool Audit Criteria
dialog box.
8. Click the local Audit button of the Optimize/Compare ECPs dialog
box - the mouse icon changes to an hourglass while RTT optimizes the
secondary ECP (note: the audit will take a few minutes).
9. When the mouse icon reverts to the normal icon, click the Display
Result button - RTT displays the Result of Audit Roam Database window
listing in the left grid all the optimized Npas.
10. Click a Npa value on the left grid - RTT displays the Roam forms
of the selected Npa in the window's main grid.
11. To verify the audit result for a displayed form, select the form
(Npa/Nxx) in the main grid and click the local Sec Roam button - RTT
displays the Secondary ECP's Roam Table with the main grid filled
with optimized Npas.
12. Make the Result of Audit Roam Database window active by clicking
any-where on it - RTT brings it to the front.
13. To remove forms from the window's main grid, select one or several
forms then click the local Delete button - RTT removes the selected
form(s) from the Result of Audit Roam Database window's main grid.
(Forms still in the main grid of each Npa listed will be included
in the apxrcv script to update the Secondary ECP).
14. To delete all the forms for a Npa from the audit results, select
the Npa in the Result of Audit Roam Database window's left grid and
click Del Npa on local toolbar. RTT removes the Npa from the audit
results (this deletion cannot be undone).
15. After verifying the audit results, create an apxrcv script by
clicking the local Script button on the Result of Audit… window -
RTT brings up the Roam Script window filled with the apxrcv script
for updating the Secondary ECP's Roam Table.
16. Click the local Schedule button on the Script window - RTT opens
the Schedule Script dialog box. Note that the Schedule Script window
title is followed by the name of the selected ECP in brackets (XXXX
ECP).
17. Using the up and down arrows, choose the time and day for RTT
to execute the script.
18. Enter your User Id and Password in the OMP login and choose your
OMP Menu option; if you want the scheduler to log into the ECP and
execute the script, enter your User Id and Password in the ECP login.
19. Click the local Schedule button on the Schedule Script dialog
box - RTT changes the window header to read Schedule Script (XXXX
ECP Scheduled) (if you want to schedule the script for all ECPs click
the Schedule All button).
20. If you want to schedule the same script for another ECP, click
the Next ECP>> or << prev ECP button
21. Click Done on the Schedule Script dialog box - RTT will execute
the changes at the scheduled time and day. 22. Click Done on the Roam
Script window and the Result of Audit Roam Database window to close
them.
You can locate the Nnbr
forms which have a specific Sid
Have you ever needed to locate the neighboring mobile switching centers
(Nnbr forms) which have a specific system identification number (Sid)?
The Roam Translation Tool allows you to locate these neighboring mobile
switching centers. For example, using the RTT, the user can locate the
Nnbr forms with a Sid of 32 simply by selecting Sid = 32 in the left
grid.
The RTT will determine the extended system identifier, switch (Dcsid)
and ECP number (Ecpid) that are part of Sid = 32. This information is
displayed across four tabs in the Nnbr form: Nnbr Scr 1, Data Link,
Nnbr Scr 2 and Local Switch.
Follow the steps below to locate the Nnbr forms with a Sid = 32:
1. Start the Roam Translation Tool and select an ECP in the ECP List
Box.
2. Click Nnbr on the RTT toolbar - RTT displays the Nnbr Table
3. Select Sid in the Key Field Selector by clicking on the drop-down
arrow - RTT displays the list of all assigned Sids in the Nnbr Table's
left grid.
4. In the Nnbr Table's left grid, locate Sid = 32 by scrolling down
the left grid.
5. Click on Sid = 32 - RTT displays in the Nnbr Table's main grid
all Nnbr forms pointing to Sid = 32.
6. Click the local Menu button to sort the forms in the Nnbr Table's
main grid by any column, then print selected or all Nnbr forms displayed
in the main grid.
You can authenticate ESIDs in the Nnbr Table
Did you know…
You can locate authenticated ESIDs in the Nnbr table.
The Authentication Capabilities (Auth CAP) column is located on the
Local Switch tab of the Nnbr Table window. A "Y" or "N" in this column
indicates when another system has authentication capabilities when networked
to a particular switch in this system.
Using the Roam Translation Tool, you can locate and/or print the networks
for which the authentication capabilities are enabled (set to "Y") or
disabled (set to "N").
Follow the steps below to locate ESIDs for which the authentication
is enabled:
1. Start the Roam Translation Tool and select an ECP in the
ECP List Box.
2. Click the Nnbr button located on the RTT toolbar
- the RTT will display the Nnbr Table window. All assigned Sids or
Vrtypes are listed in the table's left grid (according to the field
selected in the Key Field Selector).
3. Click a value, any value will do, in the left grid - the RTT fills
the Nnbr Table's main grid with the associated Nnbr forms which are
divided into 4 tabs (Nnbr Scr1, Data Link, Nnbr Scr2 and Local Switch).
4. Click the Local Switch tab - the RTT displays the information
on that tab.
5. Select Sw = 2 in the Switch Selector (to the right of the audit
button) - the RTT will display the Nnbr form information for switch
#2.
6. Click the local Menu button and select Get Distinct…(all
forms), then Auth CAP - the RTT displays one form for each assigned
Auth CAP - "Y" or "N". If there is no form with Auth CAP = Y, then
none of the forms have Authentication Capabilities turned on for the
selected switch.
7. Select a form for which Auth CAP = Y in the main grid. The Auth
CAP column is the second column from the right on the Local Switch
tab.
8. Click the local Menu button and select Get All…(all
forms), then Auth CAP = Y - the RTT displays the main grid all forms
with Auth CAP set to Y.
9. Repeat steps 5 to 9 for the remaining switches. You can select the desired ESID (dcsid + ecpid + sid) and copy them to the clipboard or print them.
You can compare the values in one field of the Nnbr Table across all ECPs
Have you ever needed to compare the values in one field of the Nnbr
Table across all ECPs?
Using the Result of Nnbr Query window in the Roam Translation Tool,
you can quickly locate a difference in a field's value (msnet, for example).
The window displays the results of your query, listing the equipped
ECPs for the selected Nnbr record. This allows for easy comparison of
field values across all ECPs.
Using this window, you can also view a list of every equipped ECP for
the Nnbr table.
Equipped ECPs can be compared and/or viewed in three ways:
1. Using the Menu button and Query all ECPs for dcsid=_, ecpid=_,
sid=_ in the Nnbr window.
2. Using the Query menu, selecting Nnbr Tables and then List Equipped
(All ECPs).
3. Using the List Equipped Nnbr Tables button in the Nnbr Query
window.
The equipped ECPs that are located for the specified dcsid, ecpid and
sid, can be compared and printed for easier viewing and future reference.
Follow the steps below to view equipped ECPs using the Menu button
in the Nnbr window:
1. Start the Roam Translation Tool
2. Click the Nnbr button on the RTT toolbar. The RTT will display
the Nnbr Table window.
3. Select Sid in the Key Field Selector of the left grid.
4. Select the record you would like to view in the left grid (Sid
= 111) for example. The RTT displays all the records associated with
that Sid in the main gird.
5. Select the record that you would like to view the equipped ECPs
for.
6. Click the local menu button and select the Query all ECPs for
dcsid = _, ecpid = _, sid = _.
7. The RTT will display the Result of Nnbr Query window, which contains
the equipped ECPs for the selected record.
Using the Query Menu:
To access the equipped ECPs using the Query menu, you must select Query
from the RTT menu bar, Nnbr Tables and then List Equipped (All ECPs).
The RTT will display the Query all Equipped Nnbr Tables window. Enter
in the appropriate Dcsid, Ecpid and Sid in the fields and click OK.
The RTT displays the Result of Nnbr Query window with the equipped ECPs
for that value.
Using the actual Nnbr Query:
To access the List equipped Nnbr Tables button, you must open the Nnbr
Query using the Query menu on the RTT menu bar. Then you select Nnbr
Tables and View/Edit unequipped (all ECPs). Simply enter the Dcpid,
Ecpid and Sid and click the List equipped Nnbr Tables button. The RTT
displays the Result of Nnbr Query window with the equipped ECPs for
that value.
You can locate every Link
form with a specified Sid

You can locate every Link form with a specified Sid.
The Link form in the Roam Translation Tool includes three (3) choices
in the Key Field Selector: Logical Number (LogNum), System Identification
(Sid) and Destination Point Code (DPC). Selecting the Sid allows you
to locate every link form with a specific Sid.
Follow the steps below to locate every Link forms with Sid = 40
(for example):
1. Start the Roam Translation Tool and select an ECP in the
ECP List Box.
2. Click the Link button on the RTT toolbar - the RTT
displays the Link Table.
3. Select Sid in the Key Field Selector by clicking on the down-arrow
button - the RTT displays a list of all assigned Sid(s) in the Link
Table's left grid.
4. Locate Sid = 40 in the Link Table's left grid by scrolling
down the left grid.
5. Click on Sid = 40 - the RTT displays all the Link forms associated
with Sid = 40 in the table's main grid.
6. You can print selected Link forms or all Link forms in the main
grid by clicking on the local Print button.
