T1 For the Tampa ECP, dump all ddtsu and ddtvr in the ceqcom2 table

Ddtsu is Lucent's Dotting Detection Setup Radio.. 9). This is the field that MUT will use for comparison purposes. Any of the fields in the ceqcom2 table, such as ddtvr (Dotting Detection: Voice Radio.. 10), can be added to the list of fields that MUT will dump in the query output. In this task, we'll show you how to create a new query to get all ddtsu and ddtvr information for the Tampa ECP ceqcom2 (Lucent's Series 2 Cell Equipage Common Form).

Follow the steps below:

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. Click New Query on the side toolbar, or click File on the menu bar and choose New Query from the list of options - MUT brings up the 1st Mass Update Wizard dialog box.

3. Type Ceqcom2_ddtsu_ddtvr in the Query Name Box (Remember to choose a file name that describes the query and its output for future reference. Use only underscores, do not use brackets as the OMP will not recognize the file name if it includes brackets) - MUT saves your queries for you to re-run or modify at a future time.

4. Click Next> when you have finished typing the query name - MUT brings up the 2nd Mass Update Wizard dialog box.

5. Click on the down arrow of the Table Name List Box to get the current list of all ECP tables from which you can choose a form or table.

6. Choose ceqcom2 (Rel.) 15 - remember to choose the form name with the proper release as MUT fills both the Table Name Box and the ECP Release Box with what you have selected.

7. Click Next> - MUT brings up the 3rd Mass Update Wizard dialog box.

8. Click on the down arrow of the Field Name Box to display the list of fields for the ceqcom2 table release 15 and scroll to select ddtsu,

9. Scroll down and select a NE in the Condition List Box-the conditions are EQ (Equal), NE (Not Equal), GT (Greater Than), GE (Greater or Equal), LT (Less Than), LE (Less or Equal)-this sets the first part of the search and selection criteria that MUT will use.

10. Type 0 (zero) in the Value Box (for the condition, Not Equal to 0) - this completes the search and selection criteria (note: both condition and value must be set for the criteria to be valid).

11. Click Next> - MUT goes to the next window (4th Mass Update Wizard dialog box). The default selection is No, last criterion. The second option, Yes, add other criteria, allows you to enter additional match criteria for the query. Accept the default selection.

12. If you need to review the criteria set in the previous step, click <Back, otherwise just click Next to get to the next wizard view - MUT moves to the 5th Mass Update Wizard dialog box and you can see that MUT has moved *csno (Cell Site..*1), the key field for the ceqcom2 table (all key fields have an asterisk * at the beginning of their name) to the Dump Fields list (all key fields should be left in the Dump Fields list as they serve to identify the record).

13. Scroll down the Available Fields Box and select ddtsu, then click the Add Field>> button - MUT adds ddtsu to the Dump Fields list.

14. Again scroll down the Available Fields Box and select ddtvr, then click the Add Fields>> button - MUT adds ddtvr to the Dump Fields list.

15. Again scroll down the Available Fields Box and select the first 3 fields and click the Add Fields>> button to add them to the Dump Fields list.

16. Click Next> - MUT brings up the 6th Wizard view in which it displays the DBsurvey query generated by the Mass Update Wizard. For this exercise, the query generated should be: DB: ceqcom2 MATCH: ddtsu NE 0 OUTPUT: csno ddtsu ddtvr (+3 more of your choice) ENDDB

17. Review the DBsurvey query generated by the wizard- if it does not match the query above (which is want you want MUT to do), use the back button to make changes. 18. when the query matches, click next> - MUT brings up the 7th Wizard view.

18. When the query matches, click Next> - MUT brings up the 7th Wizard view

19. In the ECP List Box on the MUT toolbar, select Tampa ECP - MUT will execute the query on the ECP which is selected, in this case Tampa.

20. Press OMP on the top toolbar - MUT opens a Telnet session to the selected ECP and brings up the Virtual Terminal window. (Refer to the section on Virtual Terminal Communication support for details on the Virtual Terminal window and its options - p.85).

21. As the OMP prompts you, enter your User ID, Login and Password - You should be at the OMP shell prompt $ - if the OMP prompts you with a menu, select the option Miscellaneous… from the Lucent menu and at the sub-menu select OMP Shell.

22. Click anywhere on the Mass Update Wizard window to bring it to the front and click Next> - MUT executes the DBsurvey and displays the result in the box Following is the result of executing DBsurvey on the next Wizard view.

23. Verify the results of the query, if the query is successful click the Transfer Dump button (if the query is not, make corrections using the <Back button). MUT automatically brings up the Edit Query Output window, including the query name-Ceqcom2_ddtsu_ddtvr-in the header for the window, and displays the dumped fields in it.

24. Click the Finish button on the final wizard window to close it.

25. Click the Done button on the Virtual Terminal window to close it.

26. On the Edit Query Output window, you can sort, edit and print the output, then-if needed-create and execute an apxrcv script to update the switch with your modifications.

27. Click Done on the Edit Query Output window to close it.

T2 Dump all vmac and ng1t of the Fci table for the Tampa ECP

Vmac stands for Lucent's Voice Mobile Attenuation Code.. 27). Ng1t stands for Lucent's Interrogation Response Time: Group 1 Neighbor.. 28). In this task you'll create a new query output to get information from the Fci table (Lucent's Filter Database Information Form).

Follow the steps below:

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. Click New Query on the side toolbar, or click File on the menu bar and choose New Query from the list of options - MUT brings up the 1st Mass Update Wizard dialog box.

3. Type Fci_vmac_ng1t in the Query Name Box (Remember to choose a file name that describes the query and its output for future reference. Use only underscores, do not use brackets as the OMP will not recognize the file name if it includes brackets) - MUT saves your queries for you to re-run or modify at a future time.

4. Click Next> - MUT brings up the 2nd Mass Update Wizard dialog box

5. Click on the down arrow of the Table Name List Box and scroll to select fci (Rel.) 15 - MUT fills both the Table Name Box and the ECP Release Box with what you have just selected.

6. Click Next> - MUT brings up the 3rd Mass Update Wizard dialog box.

7. Click on the down arrow of the Field Name Box to display the list of fields for the fci table release 15 and scroll to select vmac,

8. Scroll down and select a NE (NE = Not Equal) in the Condition List Box and type 0 (zero) in the Value Box - MUT completes the selection criteria, NE 0 (note: both condition and value must be set for the criteria to be valid).

9. Click Next> - MUT goes to the 4th Mass Update Wizard view. The default selection is No, last criterion. The second option, Yes, add more criteria, allows you to enter additional match criteria for the query. Accept the default selection.

10. If you need to review the criteria set in the previous step, click <Back, otherwise just click Next to get to the next wizard view - MUT moves to the 5th Mass Update Wizard dialog box and automatically moves the key fields for the fci table *csno (Cell Site..*1), *svgrp (Server Group..*2) and *antf1 (Antenna Face Number..3 to the Dump Fields list (note: all key fields have an asterisk * at the beginning of their name). All key fields should be left in the Dump Fields list as they serve to identify the record.

11. Scroll down the Available Fields Box and select vmac, then click the Add Field>> button - MUT adds vmac to the Dump Fields list.

12. Again scroll down the Available Fields Box and select ng1t, then click the Add Fields>> button - MUT adds ng1t to the Dump Fields list.

13. Again scroll down the Available Fields Box and select 2 more fields and click the Add Fields>> button to add them to the Dump Fields list.

14. Click Next> - MUT brings up the 6th Wizard view in which it displays the DBsurvey query generated by the Mass Update Wizard. For this exercise, the query generated should be: DB: fci MATCH: vmac NE 0 OUTPUT: csno svgrp antf1 vmac ng1t (+2 of your choice) ENDDB

15. Review the DBsurvey query generated by the wizard-use the - MUT brings up the 7th Wizard view.

16. In the ECP List Box on the MUT toolbar, select Tampa ECP - MUT will execute the query on the Tampa ECP.

17. Press OMP on the top toolbar - MUT opens a Telnet session to the selected ECP and brings up the Virtual Terminal window. (Refer to the section on Virtual Terminal Communication support for details on the Virtual Terminal window and its options - p.85).

T3 Modify the Tampa ECP Ceqcom2_ddtsu_ddtvr query - remove ddtsu & add rtu_c.

Rtu_c is Lucent's CDMA RTU - Status.. 20). In this task we show you how to bring up an existing query and change it to create a different output.

Follow the steps below. (Note: To see how this task is done, play the task in the CD-ROM multimedia presentation).

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. In the Query List Box, select Ceqcom2_ddtsu_ddtvr.

3. Click Open Query on the side toolbar, or click File on the menu bar and choose Open Query from the list of options - MUT brings up the 1st Mass Update Wizard dialog box with Ceqcom2_ddtsu_ddtvr in the Query Name Box.

4. Change the Query Name to Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c then click Next> - MUT brings up the 2nd Mass Update Wizard dialog box.

5. No changes to be made on this view, click Next > to get to the 3rd view of the Mass Update Wizard.

6. In the Field Name Box, scroll to select rtu_c and leave the Condition and Value as they are - when MUT executes the query it will find all forms for which rtu_c is Not Equal to 0 (zero).

7. Click Next > on this view, and click Next > on the following dialog box - MUT brings up the 5th Mass Update Wizard dialog box with the previous selection of fields in the Dump Fields list.

8. Scroll and select rtu_c in the Available Fields list, then click the Add Fields>> button - MUT adds rtu_c to the Dump Fields list.

9. Select ddtsu in the Dump Fields list, then click the < <Remove Fields button - MUT removes ddtsu from the Dump Fields list.

10. Click Next> - MUT brings up the 6th Wizard view in which it displays the DBsurvey query generated by the Mass Update Wizard. For this exercise, the query generated should be: DB: ceqcom2 MATCH: rtu_c NE 0 OUTPUT: csno ddtvr rtu_c ENDDB.

11. Review the DBsurvey query generated by the wizard-if it does not match the query above (which is want you want MUT to do), use the <Back button to make changes.

12. If the query matches, click Next> - MUT brings up the 7th Wizard view.

13. In the ECP List Box, select Tampa ECP - MUT will execute the query on the ECP which is selected, in this case Tampa.

14. Press OMP on the top toolbar - MUT opens a Telnet session to the selected ECP and brings up the Virtual Terminal window. (Refer to the section on Virtual Terminal Communication support for details on the Virtual Terminal window and its options - p.85).

T4 Run the Tampa ECP Ceqcom2_ddtvr_ rtu_c query for New York ECP

In this task we show you how to bring up an existing query and run it, without changing it, for a different ECP. You only need to select a different ECP before you send the query to the OMP.

Follow the steps below. (Note: To see how this task is done, play the task in the CD-ROM multimedia presentation).

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. In the Query List Box, select Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c.

3. Click Open Query on the side toolbar, or click File on the menu bar and choose Open Query from the list of options - MUT brings up the 1st Mass Update Wizard dialog box with Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c in the Query Name Box.

4. Do not change anything in any of the prompt boxes on Views 1 to 6, simply click Next> and keep clicking it until you get to the view with the instruc-tion to select an ECP.

5. In the ECP List Box on the MUT toolbar, select New York ECP - MUT will execute the query on the ECP which is selected, in this case New York.

6. Press OMP on the top toolbar - MUT opens a Telnet session to the New York ECP and brings up the Virtual Terminal window. (Refer to the section on Virtual Terminal Communication support for details on the Virtual Terminal window and its options - p.85).

7. As the OMP prompts you, enter your User ID, Login and Password - You should be at the OMP shell prompt $ - if the OMP prompts you with a menu, select the option Miscellaneous… from the Lucent menu and at the sub-menu select OMP Shell.

8. Click anywhere on the Mass Update Wizard window to bring it to the front and click Next> - MUT executes the DBsurvey and displays the result in the box Following is the result of executing DBsurvey on the next Wizard view.

T5 Refresh the Tampa ECP Ceqcom2_ddtsu_ddtvr query

If you ever want to undo all editing to a query output, you can recover the original query output from the OMP. Import Query Output lets you refresh your PC database with the original query output that was saved on the OMP. This overwrites your editing of the query output.

Follow the steps below. (Note: To see how this task is done, play the task in the CD-ROM multimedia presentation).

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. In the Query List Box, select Ceqcom2_ddtsu_ddtvr.

3. Click File on the menu bar and choose Import Query Output from the list of options - MUT opens a session to the Tampa ECP and displays a few messages as it imports the query output: Transferring Ceqcom2_ddtsu_ddtvr from Tampa ECP Importing records Total number of records

4. When it is finished importing the query output, MUT brings up the output in the Edit Query Output window.

 

T6 Rerun Tampa ECP Ceqcom2_ddtsu_ddtvr query

In this task we show you how you can rerun a DBsurvey to get the latest data dump from an ECP. No changes are made as you skip through all the views to connect to the OMP.

Follow the steps below. (Note: To see how this task is done, play the task in the CD-ROM multimedia presentation).

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. In the Query List Box, select Ceqcom2_ddtsu_ddtvr.

3. Click Open Query on the side toolbar, or click File on the menu bar and choose Open Query from the list of options - MUT brings up the 1st Mass Update Wizard dialog box with Ceqcom2_ddtsu_ddtvr in the Query Name Box.

4. Do not change anything in any of the prompt boxes on Views 1 to 6, simply click Next> and keep clicking it until you get to the view with the instruc-tion to select an ECP.

5. In the ECP List Box on the MUT toolbar, make sure Tampa ECP is still selected then press OMP on the top toolbar - MUT opens a Telnet session to the selected ECP and brings up the Virtual Terminal window.

T7 Remove/Delete the Tampa ECP Fci (vmac, ng1t) query

In this task we show you how you can delete both a DBsurvey query from the list of available queries and its query output from your PC. You also learn how to remove both the deleted query and query output from the OMP.

Follow the steps below:

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. In the Query List Box, select Fci_vmac_ ng1t.

3. Click File on the MUT menu bar and select Del Query - MUT opens a dialog box asking you Do you want to delete Fci_vmac_ ng1t query?

4. Click Yes to delete the query - MUT removes the query Fci_vmac_ng1t from the list of available Tampa ECP queries and also deletes the query output from your PC.

5. To remove the query and its output from the OMP, first connect to the OMP by clicking on the toolbar or clicking OMP and selecting Connect to OMP - MUT opens a Telnet session to the selected ECP and brings up the Virtual Terminal window.

6. As the OMP prompts you, enter your User ID, Login and Password - You should be at the OMP shell prompt $ - if the OMP prompts you with a menu, select the option Miscellaneous… from the Lucent menu and at the sub-menu select OMP Shell.

7. At the OMP shell prompt $, type rm fci_vmac_ngt1t.qry and do a carriage return - the OMP removes (rm) the query file from the OMP.

8. At the OMP shell prompt $, type rm fci_vmac_ngt1t.txt and do a carriage return - the OMP removes (rm) the query output file from the OMP.

9. Click the local Done button on the Virtual Terminal window to close the window.

Note that the query file always has a .qry extension while the query output file has the .txt extension after the file name. The remove commands for the OMP must be typed in using the following formats exactly: rm(space) <filename>.qry or rm(space) <filename>.txt .

T8 View Tampa ECP Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c query output and list all the sites for which rtu_c = e

In this task we show you how to work with the query output, to find particular fields and list them. You'll work with the field rtu_c (CDMA RTU Status.. 20). The rtu_c in a form can have one of the 3 following values: - e (equipped), - u (unequipped) or - g (growth).

Follow the steps below:

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. Scroll and select Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c in the Query List Box.

3. Click Edit Query Output on the MUT toolbar, or Edit on the menu bar and choose the Edit Query Output option - MUT brings up the Edit Query Output window with the last edited output for Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c.

4. Click on a cell in the ddtvr column to select it - MUT highlights it.

5. While pointing at the selected cell right-click on the mouse to bring up the Menu options or click Menu on the Edit Query Output window's toolbar - MUT opens the sub-menu for the Menu command.

6. Scroll down the sub-menu to select Get Distinct… then choose rtu_c - MUT displays one form for each value of rtu_c in the output (there can be 3 different values for this field: e, u or g).

7. Locate rtu_c = e and select it.

8. Click Menu on the Edit Query Output window's toolbar or right-click the mouse and select Get All…, then choose rtu_c = e - MUT displays only the forms with rtu_c = e.

9. Select any cell in the *csno column then click Menu or right-click the mouse, then select Sort selected column ascending - MUT sorts the displayed forms by the key field csno (Cell Site Number..1).

10. Click Print on the local toolbar to print all forms or click Menu, then Print all rows - MUT print all displayed forms.

11. Highlight the whole ddtvr column and click Edit on the local toolbar, then Copy selected row(s) to clipboard - MUT copies all selected rows to the clipboard.

12. Start the program MS Excel then click Edit on the menu bar and choose Paste - Excel pastes the rows on the clipboard into the spreadsheet.

13. Click a cell on the first row, then click Insert and select Rows- - Excel inserts a row above the first row.

14. In the first row of cells, type in the names of each column from your Ceqcom2 Tampa ECP Output Query, then save your spreadsheet as Ceqcom2_Tampa(rtc_u = e).xls (Remember where you save it, you'll need it in another task).

15. Click File then Exit to close Excel.

16. Click Done on the Edit Query Output window to close it.

 

T9 Compare the Tampa ECP Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c query output with the output for the New York ECP (same query)

In this task we show you how to work with two query outputs, from the same query but different ECPs. This makes it easy to compare data from two ECPs for a particular table.

Follow the steps below.

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. Scroll and select Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c in the Query List Box.

3. Click Edit Query Output on the MUT toolbar, or Edit on the menu bar and choose the Edit Query Output option - MUT brings up the Edit Query Output window with the last edited output for Tampa ECPs Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c.

4. In the ECP List Box, scroll and select New York ECP.

5. Click Edit Query Output on the MUT toolbar, or Edit on the menu bar and choose the Edit Query Output option - MUT brings up the Edit Query Output window with the last edited output for New York ECP's Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c.

6. Click Window on the menu bar and select Tile Horizontally - MUT arranges the 2 Edit Query Output windows one above the other, both just high enough to fill the screen together.

7. In each Edit Query window, click Menu and select Get Distinct… then choose rtu_c - MUT displays in each window one form for each rtu_c status (e, u or g).

8. Again in each Edit Query window, click Menu and select Get All… then choose rtu_c = e - MUT displays in each window all forms for which rtu_c is equipped (rtu_c =e).

9. In each Edit Query Output window, click a cell in the ddtvr column, and click Menu then Sort selected column ascending - MUT sorts the output in each window in ascending order by the ddtvr column.

10. For each Edit Query Output window, highlight the first 10 rows, review and compare them with the other ECP, then click Menu on each local toolbar and choose Print selected row(s) - MUT prints out the selected rows for each ECP.

 

T10 In the Tampa ECP Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c query output, change all rtu_c = e to rtu_c = g

In this task we will show you to make global changes to a value by using three different methods: using the Edit sub-commands Find & Replace, or using the Menu sub-commands Get Distinct… and Get All…

Follow the steps below:

Method 1 - Using Edit sub-commands Find & Replace

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. Scroll and select Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c in the Query List Box.

3. Click Edit Query Output on the MUT toolbar, or Edit on the menu bar and choose the Edit Query Output option - MUT brings up the Edit Query Output window with the last edited output for Tampa ECP's Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c.

4. Click Edit on the Edit Query Output toolbar, then select the Replace option - MUT brings up the Edit Query - Find & Replace dialog box.

5. In the Column to Search list select rtu_c by highlighting it, then type e in the Find what box - MUT will search the rtu_c column in the Edit Query Output for the value e.

6. Type g in the Replace with box, then click Find Next - MUT finds the first incidence of rtu_c = e.

7. Click Replace, then Find Next, and repeat to replace one at a time, or click Replace All if you want MUT to replace all rtu_c = e automatically.

8. Click Close when you're done to close the Edit Query - Find & Replace dialog box.

Method 2 - Using Menu sub-commands Get Distinct… & Get All…

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. Scroll and select Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c in the Query List Box.

3. Click Edit Query Output on the MUT toolbar, or Edit on the menu bar and choose the Edit Query Output option - MUT brings up the Edit Query Output window with the last edited output for Tampa ECP's Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c.

4. Click Menu on the Edit Query Output toolbar, then select the sub-command Get Distinct… and choose rtuc_c - MUT displays in the main grid one form for each assigned value of rtu_c (u for unequipped, g for growth, e for equipped).

5. Scroll to select the form with rtu_c = e, click the Menu button, then select the sub-command Get all… and choose rtu_c = e - MUT displays in the grid all forms for which rtu_c = e.

6. Highlight all the rtu_c = e in the rtu_c column and type in g, then click on another cell outside the selected column for all the selected cells to be changed - MUT replaces e by g in all the selected cells.

 

T11 Modify Tampa ECP's rtc_u using data from an Excel spreadsheet

You can copy data from an Excel spreadsheet that a colleague or another tool has created, and paste or insert it into a query output. For this exercise, you'll be using the spreadsheet you created in step 14 of Task 8 (T8).

Follow the steps below:

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. Scroll and select Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c in the Query List Box.

3. Click Edit Query Output on the MUT toolbar, or Edit on the menu bar and choose the Edit Query Output option - MUT brings up the Edit Query Output window with the last edited output for Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c.

4. Point at a cell in the ddtvr column and right-click on the mouse to bring up the Menu options - MUT opens the sub-menu for the Menu command.

5. Scroll down the sub-menu to select Get Distinct… then choose rtu_c - MUT displays one form for each value of rtu_c in the output (there can be 3 different values for this field: e, u or g).

6. Locate rtu_c = g and select it, then click Menu on the Edit Query Output window's toolbar or right-click the mouse and select Get All…, then choose rtu_c = g - MUT displays only the forms with rtu_c = g.

7. Launch Excel by clicking Start on Windows 95, 98, 2000 or NT and select Programs, then choose Microsoft Excel.

8. Open your spreadsheet Ceqcom2_Tampa(rtc_u = e).xls (Remember where you saved it when you created in Task 8).

9. Highlight all cells in the first 10 rows of the spreadsheet, then click Edit on the menu bar and choose Copy - Excel copies the first 10 rows to the clipboard.

10. Return to the MUT's Edit Query Output window and click on the first cell in the *csno column, click Edit on the Edit Query Output menu bar, then select Insert row(s) from clipboard - MUT inserts the Excel file's data from the clipboard.

11. Compare the first 20 rows and delete the rows you don't want by selecting each one and clicking Edit then Del selected row(s)-to delete the row permanently-or Cut selected row(s)-to move the row to the clipboard.

 

T12 Retrieve Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c query output, create & execute an apxrcv script

The Mass Update Tool stores the last edited query output per ECP. You can retrieve the last edited query output to create a script and update the switch database.

Follow the steps below:

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select the desired Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. Scroll and select Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c in the Query List Box.

3. Click Edit Query Output on the MUT toolbar, or Edit on the menu bar and choose the Edit Query Output option - MUT brings up the last edited output for Ceqcom2_ddtvr_rtu_c in the Edit Query Output window.

4. To create an apxrcv script, click the Script button on the Edit Query Output window - MUT brings up the View/Edit apxrcv Script window filled with the apxrcv scripts to update the switch.

5. In the ECP List Box, select the ECP to which you want to download the apxrcv script.

6. Click the local Connect command on the View/Edit apxrcv Script window - MUT opens a Telnet session to the selected ECP and brings up the Virtual Terminal window. (Refer to the section on Virtual Terminal Emulation support for details on the Virtual Terminal window and its options - p.85).

7. As the OMP prompts you, enter your User ID, Login and Password.

8. You should be at the OMP shell prompt $ - if the OMP prompts you with a menu, select the option Miscellaneous… from the Lucent menu and at the sub-menu select OMP Shell.

9. Click anywhere on the View/Edit apxrcv Script window to bring it to the front.

10. Click the local Execute command - MUT executes the apxrcv script and updates the switch by sending the script line by line to the OMP and you can monitor the progress of the download on the Virtual Terminal window.

11. Click Done to close the Virtual Terminal window.

12. On the View/Edit apxrcv Script window, click Outcome to view the result of the script or click Done to close the Script window.

13. Click Done on the Edit Query Output window to close it.

 

T13 Modify the apxrcv script for the Tampa ECP DPlan_calltyp_destx query

If you get an error message after running a script, you'll want to correct the script. In this task we show you how to modify the script to correct the error caused by the field qbypat that is empty.

Follow the steps below:

1. Start the Mass Update Tool and select the desired Tampa ECP in the ECP List Box.

2. Scroll and select DPlan_calltyp_destx in the Query List Box.

3. Click Edit on the menu bar and choose the Apxrcv Script option - MUT brings up the script for DPlan_calltyp_destx query output in the View/ Edit apxrcv Script window.

4. In the row right under the first u, highlight qbypat= (including the pace before and one space after) then click Edit on the local toolbar and select Replace… or right-click the mouse and select Replace…. MUT brings up the Script - Find & Replace dialog box with what you have highlighted in the Find what: box.

5. Make sure (space)qbypat=(space) is in the Find what: box (if necessary, type it in).

6. Do not type anything in the Replace with: box (leave this empty as you want to eliminate this field from the script) and click Replace on the dialog box - MUT replaces (space)qbypat=(space) with a space in the script, then finds the next (space)qbypat=(space).

7. Click Replace All on the dialog box if you want MUT to change all incidences of - MUT replaces all incidences of (space)qbypat=(space) automatically.

8. When all changes are done, close the dialog box and click the local Connect command on the View/Edit apxrcv Script window - MUT opens a Telnet session to the selected ECP and brings up the Virtual Terminal window. (Refer to the section on Virtual Terminal Emulation support for details on the Virtual Terminal window and its options - p.85).

9. Note: you must execute the script immediately (Closing the Script window will lose all changes to the script-MUT only stores the original script).

10. As the OMP prompts you, enter your User ID, Login and Password.

11. You should be at the OMP shell prompt $ - if the OMP prompts you with a menu, select the option Miscellaneous… from the Lucent menu and at the sub-menu select OMP Shell.

T14 Equipping your system with a new pn Lucent table

Sometimes, you may need to use a Lucent Table that is not configured as a standard table by 3D Cellular. In this task we'll show you 2 different methods for obtaining the table you need. Method 2 requires you to have your Lucent documentation CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive and have Acrobat Reader (whatever version is required to read the Lucent documentation) installed on your PC.

Follow the steps below:

Method 1 - Contacting 3D Cellular

1. Contact 3D Cellular by e-mail or by phone and request that the pn table be provided.

2. When 3D Cellular e-mails you the file, download the file pn.tbl and save it in the folder for the MUT program, using the following path: c:\Program Files\Mass Update Tool\pn.tbl or save the file someplace you can refer to it easily.

3. Start the Mass Update Tool.

4. Click Lucent Tables on the menu bar and select Import New Lucent Tables - MUT brings up the Import Lucent Table window.

5. Browse to find the folder and the file ( .tbl) you downloaded.

6. Double-click on it to open it - MUT imports it if the table doesn't already exist and brings up the Modify Lucent Table Fields.

7. Check the fields against the Lucent documentation to make sure they are the same.

Method 2 - Creating a New Lucent Table using the Lucent CD-ROM

1. Start the Mass Update Tool.

2. Click Lucent Tables on the menu bar and select Create Lucent Tables in the list of options - MUT uses the New Lucent Table Wizard to guide you.

3. With the Lucent CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive, locate and open the Lucent documen-tation-it opens in Acrobat Reader.

4. In the Lucent documentation's Table of Contents, locate the Executive Cellular Processor (ECP) Documents.

5. Locate the pn Data Base Update and click on the appropriate volume to open it.

6. In the Navigation Panel's Bookmarks on the left (if the Navigation Panel is not visible click on the icon on the toolbar to display it), locate the pn table and click on [+] on the left of the table's name to open the list of contents for the pn table.

7. Double-click on Data Field Parameters - Acrobat Reader will take you to the page showing the Data Fields Parameters for the table you've chosen.

8. Check the View menu options and make sure the Continuous option is selected (ticked).

9. Using the Text Select Tool, drag the mouse to highlight all data field parameters even if they are on more than one page (don't worry about highlighting headers and footers - MUT will discard them) and copy them to the clipboard by doing CTRL+C.

10. Go back to the Mass Update Tool and type pn for the Lucent Table Name, 16 for the ECP Release, and Ported Number Form in the Table Description box.

11. Click the Next> button - MUT searches the clipboard and copies the table parameters from the clipboard into the Lucent Table Parameters box of the New Lucent Table Wizard's View 2.

12. Verify that the table parameters are there and click Finish - MUT finishes creating the table and automatically brings up the Modify Lucent Table Fields window displaying the new pn table and its parameters.

13. Verify all table parameters against the Lucent documentation to make sure they're identical.

14. When you are finished, you can print the table's parameters by clicking Print on the Modify Lucent Table Fields, then click Done to close the window.

 

T15 Creating a cell2 table following a new Lucent software release

When Lucent comes out with a new release, you'll need to configure new tables for those that have been changed to update your system's tables. In this task we show you how to do this easily by using the Configure Lucent Tables option of the Lucent Tables command.

Follow the steps below:

1. Start the Mass Update Tool.

2. Click Lucent Tables on the menu bar and choose the option Configure Lucent Tables - MUT opens the Configure Lucent Tables window.

3. Click on the table cell2 for ECP Rel. 15, then click on Duplicate Table - MUT brings up the Define a new table dialog box with the information for the existing cell2 table, ECP Rel. 15.

4. Change the ECP Release to 16 then click Insert - MUT inserts a new table cell2 ECP Rel. 16 into the list of tables in the Configure Lucent Tables window and automatically brings up the Modify Lucent Table Fields window.

5. Modify the fields that have been changed using the Lucent documentation.

6. When you're done click Done - MUT automatically saves all changes and closes the Modify Lucent Table Fields window.

 

T16 Modify the field name fr1tech in Cell2 rel. 16 to fr1_tech

As you use the different Lucent tables, you may need to modify a table field because an apxrcv script does not update a switch properly or a DBsurvey query does not run correctly.

Follow the steps below:

Method 1 - Using the Modify Lucent Table Fields command

1. Start the Mass Update Tool.

2. Click Lucent Tables on the menu bar and select the Modify Lucent Table Fields option - MUT brings up the Modify Lucent Table Fields window.

3. Click the down arrow of the Table/Release Box to access the list of tables available, scroll down and select cell2, 16 table - MUT displays the fields for the selected table.

4. Scroll down until you see fr1tech in the list of fields, double-click on it - the cursor changes to the text insertion tool.

5. Type in an underscore -_ after fr1, changing fr1tech to fr1_tech, then click in another cell for the change to be permanent.

6. Click Done to close the Modify Lucent Table Fields window - MUT saves the changes automatically.

Method 2 - Using the Configure Lucent Tables command

1. Start the Mass Update Tool.

2. Click Lucent Tables on the menu bar and select the Configure Lucent Tables option - MUT brings up the Configure Lucent Tables window.

3. Select the cell2 ECP Rel. 16 table, then click Modify Fields on the window's toolbar - MUT brings up the Modify Lucent Table Fields window displaying the fields for the cell2 ECP Rel.16 table.

4. Scroll down until you see fr1tech in the list of fields, double-click on it - the cursor changes to the text insertion tool.

5. Type an underscore -_ after fr1, changing fr1tech to fr1_tech, then click in another cell for the change to be permanent.

6. Click Done to close the Modify Lucent Table Fields window MUT saves the changes automatically.

 

T17 Configure: Change configuration of a system (ECP)

There are configuration changes in your systems (OMP/ECP) every day, the system password expires, an ECP software upgrade and more. The MUT OMP/ECP configuration window allows you to make these changes quickly in the Mass Update Tool.

Follow the steps below:

1. Start the Mass Update Tool.

2. Click OMP on the MUT menu bar and select Configure OMP Connection - MUT brings up Configure connection to OMP/ECP window.

3. To change the OMP/ECP password, simply select one or multiple passwords and enter the new password.

4. To change the ECP software release, enter the number (for example 14) of the new software release in the ECP Rel. column.

5. To archive the configuration, click the local Archive button - the Archive Configuration window appears prompting you for a file name to enter for a new archive to be opened.

6. Enter a file name .txt and click Open - the archive is saved.

7. Click the local Done button on the Configure connection to OMP/ECP window - MUT saves the information and closes the window. Contact 3D Cellular by phone or e-mail for instructions on how to get the latest DBsurvey query files for the new software release.

 

T18 Procedure for upgrading MUT software from the CD-ROM

Follow the steps below:

Preparation:

1. Backup Mass Update databases: Copy c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\Mupdate.mdb to c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\copy of Mupdate.mdb Copy c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\TblInfo.mdb to c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\copy of TblInfo.mdb

2. Locate your Mass Update Tool serial number.

3. Uninstall the Mass Update Tool .

Reinstalling the MUT software:

1. Close all applications running under Windows (95, 98, 2000 or NT).

2. Insert your copy of the 3D Cellular Wireless Automation Tool CD in your CD-ROM drive - the 3D Cellular presentation starts automatically and in less than a minute it displays a main window with a list of buttons on the left of your screen.

3. Click the Install button then select Mass Update Tool to install - or browse the Wireless automation Tool (CD-ROM) and run the \MUT\setup.exe to install the MUT software.

4. Follow the instructions given by the installation program - the set-up program asks for the MUT Serial Number (enter it), and for the drive and directory - enter the assigned drive for the Mass Update Tool (i.e. c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool).

5. Restore the backed up databases: Copy c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\copy of Mupdate.mdb to c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\Mupdate.mdb Copy c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\copy of TblInfo.mdb to c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\TblInfo.mdb

6. Launch the Mass Update Tool program from its icon in the Windows (95, 98, 2000 or NT) Start button Programs option.

(This completes the installation of the program for most users.)

 

T19 Procedure for upgrading MUT software from 3D Cellular's Web site

Follow the steps below:

Preparation:

1. Download the installation files from 3D Cellular's web site: a. Get the URL address of the downloadable programs from 3D Cellular. b. Enter the given URL address in your Internet Explorer address text box. c. From the list of downloadable files, double click on MUT.exe d. Your browser will prompt you with a Save dialog box - choose a directory on your hard drive into which you'll save the download (remember this directory), then start the download. e. Upon download completion, open the directory where you saved the down-loaded file, and double-click on the file - this will initialize the self-extracting .exe file which will extract the installation files.

2. Backup Mass Update databases: Copy c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\Mupdate.mdb to c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\copy of Mupdate.mdb Copy c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\TblInfo.mdb to c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\copy of TblInfo.mdb

3. Locate your Mass Update Tool serial number.

4. Uninstall the Mass Update Tool.

Reinstallation of MUT Software:

T20 Procedure for uninstalling the MUT software

Follow the steps below:

Before uninstalling the MUT software, backup your local databases: Copy c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\Mupdate.mdb to c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\copy of Mupdate.mdb Copy c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\TblInfo.mdb to c:\Program Files\3D Cellular\Mass Update Tool\copy of TblInfo.mdb

Uninstall (remove) the Mass Update Tool:

1. Close all programs running on your PC workstation (very important).

2. Launch the MUT Uninstall program by clicking on the Windows (95, 98, 2000 or NT) Start button, then select Programs and choose Wireless Automation Tools and Uninstall Mass Update Tool.

3. Click the Windows (95, 98, 2000 or NT) Start button, then select Settings and choose Control Panel - the Control Panel window opens.

4. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs - select Mass Update Tool from the list of programs and click the Add/Remove button

5. When the Confirm File Deletion dialog box appears, click Yes to confirm removal or No to cancel - A Shared component window appears.

6. Click Remove All - Another Application Removal window will appear for you to confirm this action.

7. Confirm.

8. Click on the last Application Removal window when the program is removed.

9. Close the Add/Remove Program and the Control Panel window.
